Orders – The ‘Other Side’
What really happens…
Have you ever wondered what happens after you place your order? If so read on…
Step One…
Your order prints out in our admin office, each having three sheets —
- Invoice Customer Copy
- Invoice Office Copy
- Pick Sheet
Listed beside each item on the pick sheet, is a unique location ID, our team of pickers then go out into the warehouse. All the aisles are laid out alphabetically and each box is numbered to make things easier.
Step Two…
The item is selected, then checked against the picking list to ensure everything is correct.
Step Three…
The parcel is taken to our packing bay where our expertly trained team of packers are waiting. Specialising in toys and collectable has meant they are skilled in carefully packing everything from intricate lead figures, delicate bisque dolls to fragile and detailed Noahs Arks.
Reams of tissue paper, rolls of bubble wrap, foam chips and parcel tape are all on hand for this complex process. Steps are also taken to ensure the correct size and type of of box is used to lessen any possibility of damage in transit. On multiple item orders, parcels are packed securely together to ensure there is no movement during transit.
Step Four…
Despatch — Once prepared, each parcel is listed
- Date of despatch
- Name
- Post code
- Method of despatch
- Unique delivery reference (if applicable)
This is a minimum of three pick ups during the day between 3.00pm – 4.30pm from Parcel Force, Royal Mail and Parceline. This is why any orders placed after this time would be sent the following day.
Hope this has helped to explain the art of packing and why we feel it is so important. Quality and service matter greatly to us to ensure its precious cargo arrives safely, intact and on time.
